Ready Salted Chipsticks are coming back in June 2017

I don’t know if the above statement is true. Believe me I wish I did!

Yesterday I saw this posted on one if the many forums I am part of to try and raise awareness of the need to bring back Ready Salted Chipsticks. Since then I have scoured the Internet, twitter, the rest of Facebook, and finally asked Walkers’ to confirm this rumour. It’s been 24 hours and I have not been able to verify if this is “fake news” (rather coincidental that it was the subject of my last post…). As ever Walkers’ are being rather taciturn on the subject.

This has put me through a roller coaster of thoughts and feelings, from elation, to cynicism and beyond… to hope. The hope that is it true and my next post can be my last (unless there is a public outcry for my ever so polished writing style of course), and that post can share the joyous news that our mission has been completed. The hope that in a mere three months I could be munching once more on the corny goodness that are Ready Salted Chipsticks.

However this has also brought fear. Fear that it isn’t true and that some mean and soulless individual has thought that it would be amusing to toy with the emotions of others. Fear of what the repercussions of this cruel trick might be, which could quite possibly end up with me banned from Facebook to end my torrent of abuse to this cruel-hearted individual.

Needless to say, once I have confirmation either way I will let you know dear friends. Until then we can all live in hope and fear.

An update to confirm that sadly this was a "fake news" story. The battle continues...

  1. Hi,I don't ever blog or do anything except buy stuff online. BUT I will do this for my son(ok me aswell)! I was addicted to these my hole life! 1 point to make in terms of popularity, how were we supposed to buy them when it was so difficult or we could never find them! Tesco had Thier own version and so did sainsburys but they are gone too! My son still cries! He has a food phobia anxiety disorder and this was one of the few things he would eat and now consumes less than 5 items of food and drink. So it breaks my heart when he still cries over ready salted chopsticks and how much he miss them & dying to eat some so much. Honestly it's like someone died it's awfully seeing him so upset.

    1. Hi Lollycbt! So sorry to hear about your son, and I share in his pain. I've brought the availability issue up with Walkers' Crisps before, and they continue to regurgitate the same old line. Feel free to send them an email or tweet about it, but from experience you won't get a response!
Obviously if they ever do return I'll let you know, and please let me know if you ever find an alternative!
Good luck and thanks for the comment!

  3. I really do miss them. I am sure you have thought about this, but if walkers don't make them any more, and Tesco don't (I used to buy the big Tesco bags) are there any other crisp makers in the country who could be talked into adding a version of the ready salted chipstick to their range? just a thought.

    1. Hi Anon. Actually I've been so focused on Walkers that I haven't actually contacted anyone else, but it's a good idea! Might see if any other crisp company will give me the time of day, because we know Walkers' won't!
      Thanks for your input!
