As we’ve seen with the media and “fake news” the above
headline can sometimes be enough to make something true. Sadly this is not the
case in this instance.
I’m ashamed to say that this blog is going to be another
rant at Walkers’ Crisps.
They continue to say that Ready Salted Chipsticks (aka the
best crisp in the world) proved not to be very popular. I just can’t see any
evidence to back this up.
I think what we may both be suffering from is Research Bias
or Confirmation Bias. Now, I can hold my hands up and say “Yes, I’ve found
considerable evidence that supports my views, probably because it’s the only
thing I look for”.
Walkers’ on the other hand seem to deliberately close their eyes
and put their fingers in their ears (and in my mental image stomp their feet
and shake their head vigorously saying “No, no, no. I am right. I AM right”).
I do troll them with all the messages I can find about Ready
Salted Chipsticks and how much they are loved and missed. This is a minimum of
two a week, and I make sure they receive each and every one of those messages.
It’s still making no difference and they are not even considerate enough to
reply to any of my kindly meant emails and tweets.
I have said it before, and more than likely I will say it
again, Walkers’ have produced no evidence that Ready Salted Chipsticks were not
popular. They cannot back this statement up with any hard proof, figures or
sales numbers. Until I see this in black and white I will continue to support
my bias, as apparently they are doing the same.
I loved ready salted chipsticks, gutted to see them go. Keep fighting the good fight.
